95% from the Mountains

About 80% of the San Francisquito Creek watershed lies in the Santa Cruz Mountains. However, due to higher rainfall in the mountains, 95% of the 100-year flood flow comes from the mountains upstream of the USGS stream flow gauge on the Stanford Golf Course. The watershed has an area of about 47 square miles, about 38 square miles of which lies in the mountains.

A much more detailed analysis of the watershed is found in the San Francisquito Creek Watershed Analysis and Sediment Reduction Plan - Web Link.
