Floodwall Access on 64 Properties?

SCVWD creekside floodwall access road just upstream of West Bayshore Road and Highway 101 Bridge.

64 Palo Alto and Menlo Park creekside homeowners may lose property if SCVWD puts in 100-year floodwalls - it appears that the Santa Clara Valley Water District sometimes requires a 5 to 7 foot wide floodwall service road between creekside homes and the creek - when the SCVWD last installed tiny floodwalls in Palo Alto, service access roads were part of the plan: "an easement of 6 feet would be required for the floodwall construction from residents in Palo Alto, if construction is done from the top of bank the working space is 3 feet of permanent easement plus 12 feet of TCE, for a total of 15 feet."

Proposed 100-year floodwalls initially extended up to Marlowe in Palo Alto as shown. Not shown is the new (January 15, 2014) plan to potentially extend 100-year floodwalls all the way up to Guinda Street in Palo Alto. X indicates channel widening. Yellow circle, bridge replacement of modification. When the Middlefield Bridge is replaced, 100-year floodwalls above Middlefield may be indicated.
Note the "Right of Way Impacts" for 64 properties, apparently just from Crescent Drive and Edgewood Drive homeowners down to Highway 101. Green circles indicate channel widening. Yellow, 100-year floodwalls.

If the SCVWD's "50-Year" project is built, properties of at least 33 homeowners are impacted:

Upstream bypass culverts avoids the need for floodwalls and easements, see "100-Year Alternatives."
